2022 Update: Designated a Premium Mare with Westfalen - We are so proud to share that our homebred mare was presented to and named a Premium mare with Westfalen in the Main Mare book!
Orla is Irish Gaelic for ‘Golden Princess’, and this lovely young German Riding pony filly certainly is! We welcomed little “Maisie” on the morning of June 7th, 2019. A filly of excellent proportions, grace, elegance and character, all of our expectations have been exceeded. Maisie is proof that if you are persistent, good things will come. Her mother took two attempts to catch, then on day 277 of her pregnancy, she was diagnosed with placentitis; a very serious situation and life-threatening to our developing foal. With early intervention and daily treatment through foaling, we were ecstatic to finally meet this sweet filly. We will be retaining her for our future program.
Inspected, branded and registered with Westfalen NA, Maisie scored an 8 for conformation & type, with 7.5 for all other areas despite being croup high at the time of inspections. Judges comments included “nice movement, canter is balanced, could be a bit more uphill, pretty face, really nice type, well-developed” . We are very proud breeders!
Maisie’s mother, CGF Ruella is a Hanoverian cross pony mare, standing 14.2+ hands. Her cheeky yet willing attitude keeps all entertained while her insatiable thirst to be near people endure all to her. She has that ‘look at me’ sparkle that separates her from the crowd.
Maisie’s sire, Milky Way is the epitome of what a German Riding pony should be; calm, sweet and confident. He has correct legs, excellent paces with a natural shoulder lift and fantastic jump. We see he passed on his pretty head, strengthened the hind end and added some pony type. Oh, and the color!
